~The home ground advantage~

Having established a perceptible title, it is not cricket that I would like to write about  , But I do intend to draw a few comparisons here and there :)

So is cricket the only thing that benefits from the " home ground advantage" ??

Looking @ it closely, I came to a conclusion very recently , it is not just cricket but something as "everyday " as cooking , enjoys the " home ground" advantage :)

There is comfort and familiarity of the " known kitchen ". I know what my right hand stretches to and what my left hand can grab .  There is impeccable clarity to the where the saucepan, spoons, dishes, lids, pulses, spices, grains, jars, plates and all the kitchen accessories are stored. There is no need to search for anything as the blueprint of my kitchen is etched clearly in the back of my mind leaving me with more time and space to focus on " creating the dish", much like the advantage and  the comfort of playing cricket in the home pitch where the entire team is familiar with the nature of  the pitch , the weather conditions that could aid in the game and off course above all the sense of power and authority over the opponent in knowing the geographical dynamics of the home ground :)

So does it allow us to justify poor performances in an " unfamiliar kitchen"?

The comfort of my kitchen does come to my advantage, which am sure most of you would agree with me, but at the same time is this all about it ? Cooking to me is an act of love , an act of showing your care and affection. There is no joy compared to feeding and creating a " happy stomach ".It is truly a complete feeling.
So shouldn't all this matter more than the comfort of cooking ?
" knowing" makes it easier but definitely it is not all you need. End of the day the discomfort of an unfamiliar terrain can hold you back only to a small extent. What if you are not comfortable with the mixer? or you miss the familiar slice of your knife or the smooth finish of your peeler, what matters is that , the food comes from the bottom of your heart and not from the familiar advantage of your kitchen. It does not matter if you are not standing on your favorite mat and cooking with your favorite pan , the magic created indeed is going to taste and feel the same :)

Just like how an overseas win creates immense joy and celebration, let us celebrate the "spirit of cooking " over the qualms of an unfamiliar kitchen :)

Cheers,
Sandy :)

When the smart phone got smarter :/

"your password is incorrect"!!

This was the 6th time this message flashed across my mobile screen. And with every attempt I was pushed to regret my decision of buying a smart phone! If having a smart phone was an amazing experience ,then , dealing with the security policies of a high end mobile phone is a completely different story.

A smart phone indeed changed my perception of what a moblie phone could do. It virtually brought every possible technology within the accessibility of a mobile phone :) But sadly the smart technology comes with a heavy price of dealing with the repercussions of complex security policies.
Each and every feature is password protected and comes with a lot of additional security layers to protect both the users and the data from hackers.

Gone are the days when hacking was specific to a website or a portal. These days private accounts like gmail and facebook pose a greater threat to being hacked. Hacking of such private accounts might not pose a national level security breach ,but , it indeed opens up the vulnerability and the ease of breaking into one's private account.

I suppose half of our life span is spent in trying to remember the countless user id s and password :/  starting from email login to bank transactions to every little feature that  is locked with a password. And trust me, the last thing i can remember in this world is the " security question"! * sigh*.
I miss the days when communication was simple and easy when compared to the rather complicated nature of the mobile phones these days.

Today if i miss or lose my phone , my life is pretty much a hazed blur till i find a replacement! We have complicated our lives so much that living without a mobile phone even for a single day is pretty much a nightmare :/

With the current rate of technological advancement ,"saturation" is not far behind. The gap between the fantasy world of gizmos and gadgets is fast shrinking.

I didn't need Facebook to remind me of my friend's birthdays, I didn't need whatsapp to stay connected, and above all my mobile phone was just a communicating device and not a high tech monster gadget which took care of all my needs.

So as we continue to battle the tech game day in and day out here is wishing all of us a hassle free gadget times :)

cheers,
Sandy :)
